In yesterday’s mail I received the death certificate of my 3x great grandmother Emilia. I’d ordered this document in hopes that it would contain two things: Emilia’s date of birth and the names of her parents. It was a success!
When I started my research, Emilia’s maiden name was listed only on one record – as ‘Emilia Jacellino’. This surname was new to me and seemed incorrect as it isn’t a name I’d come across in Campania, Italy. I contacted Anthony Vermandois of imaginesmaiorum.net who agreed. After looking into possible alternatives that may be transcribed as Jacellino, I decided the most likely match would be Forcellino, prevalent in CETARA.
The death certificate confirms (for lack of proper spelling) the name of Emilia’s father as Pietro Forcellino. Her mother is listed as Maria Campadella which I believe to be Campobella (research ongoing).
