Descendants of James Dobyns (~1795, Virginia – 1834, Kentucky) and Sarah Reed Cooper (1776, Virginia – 1851), married 1794. Sarah Reed Cooper was the daughter of Apollis Cooper who served as lieutenant in Captain Charles West’s company, Col. Thomas Marshall’s Virginia Regiment. He died in battle in 1777. James was the son of Edward Dobyns (1747, England – 1794, Virginia) and Francis Rebecca Key (1751-1821). Edward Dobyns served as a private in the Culpeper County, Virginia militia.
